What is a Living Wage?
The concept of a living wage – a wage that allows workers to afford basic necessities such as housing, energy, sanitation, food, healthcare, basic education, clothing, and transportation—has gained increasing attention given that in certain countries low wage workers are struggling to make ends meet despite holding full time jobs.
Unlike the minimum wage, which is often set by governments at levels that may not reflect actual living costs, a living wage ensures that workers can afford the basic necessities in life and allow for a decent living.
As the cost of living continues to rise, advocating for fair wages is essential in building a more just and equitable economy. By working together, we can create an economy where no one who works full-time lives in poverty.
Our Commitment to a Living Wage
At allnex, we are committed to pay our people fair, equitable and in a transparent way. As part of our ESG strategy, we recognize the importance of addressing pay disparities and ensuring that all employees receive a fair pay in line with their role, skills, experience and continued performance in the local markets.
allnex supports the living wage principle in the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights. Providing a fair living wage is not only a moral obligation but also a fundamental aspect of sustainable business practices.
In 2024, we have not only implemented a Fair Living Wage Charter, we have also conducted – based on data of the independent specialized organization WageIndicator – a full detailed fair living wage analysis for all of our employees. We were proud to affirm that all our employees receive a fair living wage, which allows them to support themselves and their families for at least a decent living standard.
allnex is committed to do these checks frequently to ensure that all of our employees continue to be paid above the fair living wage.
Stay tuned for our upcoming ESG 2025 report, where you will learn more about this topic and many more.
