At allnex, we are continuously advancing our efforts to provide our customers with innovative, eco-friendly solutions without compromising on performance. A key framework enabling this journey is the ISCC PLUS certification.
Looking back at our pivotal year in 2024, we celebrated a major milestone when allnex successfully certified 7 production sites under the ISCC PLUS framework, significantly expanding our capacity for mass-balanced sustainable solutions across the region.
Now, we are proud to build upon that strong foundation with the recent certification of our Zhuhai site in China, a strategic move that extends our certified mass balance production into Asia. The certification covers the production of sustainable versions of a wide range of products, including:
- Key Amino resin products from our renowned CYMEL® and SETAMINE® ranges.
- Sustainable CYREZ® crosslinker resins.
With this achievement, we have now covered all Technology segments with ISCC PLUS certification in Asia, specifically in China. For our Liquid Resins and Additives business, this solidifies our position as a pioneer for ISCC PLUS certification in the Asian region.
A particularly exciting opportunity arising from this certification is our sustainable CYREZ® 964 BC35. This product features silicon dioxide sourced from agricultural waste, offering a remarkable reduction in PCF of 27% compared to its fossil-based version. This is a tangible example of how we are creating more sustainable value for our customers.
allnex ISCC PLUS Factsheet
What is ISCC PLUS and the Power of Mass Balance?
The ISCC is a globally recognized sustainability certification system covering various sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, circular materials, and renewables. With over 9,000 valid certificates in more than 130 countries, ISCC is one of the world’s largest certification systems. Its mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and establish sustainable production with fully traceable supply chains from origin to final user. The benefits are significant:
Reduced Carbon Footprint: Products made with mass-balanced sustainable raw materials have a significantly lower Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).
Supply Chain Transparency: It provides a chain of custody that guarantees the sustainable origin of the raw materials.
Driving the Transition: It helps scale up the use of renewable and circular materials in existing infrastructure, accelerating the industry’s move away from fossil resources.
What’s Next: Completing Our EMEA Certification Journey
Our momentum continues in the EMEA region. allnex’ Bitterfeld (Germany) site is now also certified for our Solvent borne Acrylics offer.
This brings us to a major milestone: we are now just one step away from having all allnex EMEA manufacturing sites certified to ISCC PLUS. With Bitterfeld onboard, we have 7 out of our 8 sites in the region certified. The certification of the final site is underway, and we look forward to sharing that news with you soon!
This coordinated effort across the globe underscores our dedication to leading our industry towards a more sustainable future, providing you with certified, innovative products that meet your environmental goals.
